Project Spotlight: Minerva Tower, Mahalakshmi
Client: Minerva Tower, Mahalakshmi
The Challenge
Executing the finishing work for India’s tallest residential tower came with a unique set of challenges:
- Paint spillage onto neighbouring buildings caused by high wind pressure.
- Significant undulations on dead walls, especially visible from ground level.
- Swinging of the RSP/Gondola at extreme heights due to wind conditions.
- The need for special safety and training measures for workers operating at 91 floors, many of whom faced acrophobia.
Our Solution
Berger Paints India Limited tackled each challenge with precision and innovation:
- Controlled paint spillage by using pressure rollers and installing fine nets to block wind-carried paint droplets.
- Minimised wall undulations by collaborating with renowned architect Hafeez Contractor and the site team to introduce a horizontal groove design, visually breaking the surface and reducing perceived unevenness.
- Stabilised operations by scheduling all painting activities in the calmer morning hours, when wind pressure was lowest.
- Enhanced worker readiness through targeted training, mandatory medical certification, and stringent safety protocols before assigning work at height.
The Outcome
With a combination of technical expertise, design collaboration, and strict safety management, Berger Paints India Limited ensured the smooth execution of this landmark project and facilitated its timely completion by December 2023. Minerva Towers now stands as a testament to our commitment to quality and innovation.
