Problem Faced:

Amazon Limited approached Berger Paints India Limited for assistance in insulating the floors of their Data Centres, panel room and server room. They were looking for a dust-free environment with a Di-electric breakdown voltage of 44KV, and with no dust generated during the coating process.

Solution Offered:

After a thorough understanding of the client’s requirements, Berger Paints India Limited offered them a personalised solution. 

Step 1: First, we made sure that the surface was clean, even, and free of loose or crumbly particles. The aim here was to ensure there were no additional layers, such as oil, grease, paraffin, rubber debris, or dirt, that would affect the adhesive strength of the primer or coating. We then pre-treated the surface and profiled it to match CSP 3.

Step 2: The Pro Epishield Floor Sealer was applied as a primer to all surfaces requiring coating. Priming is usually used on surfaces with a maximum residual moisture content of 5%. The primer layer reduced the concrete's porosity and thereby reduced the risk of outgassing. This also aided in the adhesion of the coating area.

Step 3: The top coat was applied. For the desired result of 44 KV, we designed the solution with a 2mm thickness and carefully applied it on the floor.

Conclusion:

Berger Paints India Limited effectively addressed Amazon Data Centres’ requirement and provided them with a dust-free environment with a di-electric breakdown voltage of 44KV.
